New York City had some of the best, biggest, most delicious desserts so while you're here you have to try something like this ice cream here at the Brooklyn ice cream factory in Brooklyn Heights. Number seven enjoy brunch. Come to a classy Instagramable spot like the River Cafe behind me with beautiful views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline or go to a diner dive and have a milkshake worth sharing that's so big but so fun and colorful at a place like Big Daddy's or Blacktap play blackjack in Canada.
Number eight have a "Cawfee" (coffee). No not Starbucks I'm talking about a cute coffee shop complete with cats, board games, records you name it New York is known for some really great coffee and coffee shops. Number nine take the subway or take a taxi. The number one trick to figure out whether a taxi is taken or not is seeing if the light on top with the numbers is actually lit up. If it is lit up that means that it is free and available, if not that means that it is taken. If you want to learn more about the subway check out my other video all about the subway. Number ten take a helicopter ride. I've actually taking a helicopter ride here in New York City, in LA, in the Czech Republic and Australia and my absolute favorite experience is here in New York because of all the tall skyscrapers you get an amazing perspective of the whole city from the air! Number 11 take a free ride on the Staten Island Ferry. The Staten Island Ferry is the best free ride views of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty so you don't have to spend a full day visiting the Statue of Liberty especially if you have a limited amount of time here watch my video for more of where to stand and where to catch it. Number 12 visit another island head to the family-friendly Governor's Island. Or with one Metro swipe head in a red tram over to Roosevelt Island. Number 13 go to Brooklyn! If you have time you must venture outside of Manhattan to other boroughs like Brooklyn my favorite spot is right here in Brooklyn Heights where you can have appreciation for this wonder by walking across it! Number fourteen visit a neighborhood! Travel around the world within New York City by visiting another neighborhood like Little India, Koreatown, Chinatown or the new Little Italy along Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Number 15 go to the top of a tall building. The top three observatory decks here in NYC that you have to pay about $30 for with an amazing view are Top of the Rock, One World Trade Center (behind me) and the Empire State Building. My top recommendation is to go to the top of the rock! The Empire State Building in your view for better views of the bridges head to the One World Trade Center, which is further downtown and has better downtown view.

In a place nicknamed the Big Apple we have to start with food, but did you know quick fun fact that it is called a big apple not because of apples - it has nothing to do with food - but because of a 1920s racing column called "Around the Big Apple" So number one we have the bagel in New York City we are known for the bagel there's actually something in the water that makes our bagels super unique and you can also try a rainbow bagel at the bagel shop in Brooklyn Williamsburg I highly recommend it you can try it with eggs for a salty sweet combo or with a smear of confetti cream cheese which is super fun and colorful highly recommended it! Number two have a really good slice of pizza. There are so many amazing pizza places that are definitely worth checking out. In Brooklyn Heights there is a fun rivalry between Grimaldi's and also Juliana's. I recommend Juliana's which has a shorter line, just FYI, but if you're on a budget there are also some amazing $1 slices that you have to check out and go check out my challenge video for more. ..."It's a little cold because I was talking for too long..." Number three have a burger! Have a burger at a place like Shake Shack, which is a super classic or The Burger Joint, which is like a speakeasy hidden inside a hotel. Number four have a pastrami sandwich you don't know how good this is until you try it! Head downtown to Katz's to have this pastrami sandwich which is a little bit pricey but so worth it and whatever you do don't lose your ticket! Number five food markets if you tried every single New York City restaurant one per day it would take you about 20 years to try all of them and that's not even including new restaurants popping up, so try a few different restaurants and a few different culinary styles all in one at a food market. Some of my favorite places are Smorgasburg which is especially during the summer and Chelsea Market open all year round which has some of the best tacos! Number six have a decadent dessert. Alright, the third thing you need to bring to China are these: wet wipes. So there aren’t a lot of restrooms in China that have toilet paper openly available. That’s why most travelers are kind of in shock when they step into a public restroom and there isn’t really toilet paper or even paper towels around. Generally speaking, even at restaurants, you don’t see a ton of napkins, just paper isn’t as free-flowing as it might be in other countries, so when you are out in public, you should definitely have some wet wipes with you in case you need to swing a trip to a restroom or if you are at a restaurant and there’s just no napkins or paper towels around. That being said, places like hotels or airport will most likely always have toilet paper or paper towels available, though certain restaurants may not, so just kind of just be proactive about it.
You don’t want to be caught in a situation where you’re sightseeing, you have to swing by the restroom and you just don’t have any of these, that really blows. So the fourth thing that you need to bring to China are good snacks and medicine. So the reason why I bring up snacks is because chances are, the food and cuisine in China is completely different compared to your home country. Based on my experience, I found that a lot of food in Shanghai and Beijing tend to be a bit oilier and doesn’t really sit well with my stomach so I’ll always like bringing a healthy clean snack to help me tie myself over when I feel like I’ve just been eating a lot of food that’s starting to make me feel sluggish. Additionally, when I said bringing medicine, I mean, specifically for your stomach to settle, like I said, the food’s going to be different. It might be weird on your bowel movements, I said it, but it’s always good to have some sort of stomach medicine in case you noticed that spicy foods or just the local cuisine isn’t sitting well with you. Better to be prepared than not prepared. So I said at the end of this video, I would also recommend the number one app I would always bring with me if I’m traveling to Shanghai, and that’s a SmartShanghai. So what this app does is, it offers a listing of all these different places in Shanghai and you can access this listing even without internet, and it will give you the addresses in Chinese lettering. If you remember my first tip, a lot of cab drivers did not read anything other than Mandarin, so if you are in a cab and you have your cash but you don’t know where to go in Mandarin, then you’re kind of SOL, so with this app, you can look up wherever you need to go, look at the specific Mandarin translation for where you need to head to and then you can just show it to your cab driver. They’ll know exactly where to take you from there. So before flying out to Shanghai, I highly recommend you look up a landmark that is on that app near your hotel or Airbnb, that way you can always have that saved and you could show it to a cab driver if you ever get lost. So China can be an awesome, awesome time just make sure you prepare for it and just knowing how to get back to a home location is a huge amount of peace of mind, especially when you’re in a foreign country, you don’t speak the language, there’s a ton of stuff happening everywhere, and you just want to be prepared. If you guys have a favorite thing that you always bring with you when you travel, go ahead and leave that in the comments section below. I’m curious as to what it is and I’ll be joining in the discussion. If you like what you heard, go ahead and click the like button below and click subscribe because I will be putting out new videos every week to help you bump up the productivity and ramp up the efficiency. In any case, I will see you all next week. Atlantic City, New Jersey, was established in 1800s as a resort town. One of its first residents was a physician, Dr. Jonathan Pitney, who saw the great potential of the Jersey Shore. After 1850s newly-built railroad and seaport allowed him and other locals to develop infrastructure which brought tourists to luxurious hotels and cottages. Along with private residences, the first commercial hotel Belloy House, was built in 1853. In the early part of the 20th century, Atlantic City went through a radical building boom.
Many of the modest boarding houses that dotted the Boardwalk were replaced with large hotels. Entertainers from Hollywood and all parts of the country graced the stages of the piers. Glamorous hotels like Haddon Hall or The Traymore, drew guests from all over the world. Atlantic City's future seemed bright, until World War II anyways. After the war, the public seemed to stop its love affair with the city. Possibly because of the access to new national air travel, the shift of the population westward and the general deterioration of the city, or the shift in the public's taste for more sophisticated entertainment. Atlantic City lost much of its shine and most of its tourists navigate to this website. In an effort to revitalize the city, New Jersey voters passed a referendum in 1976, approving casino gambling for the city. Atlantic City was less popular than Las Vegas as a gambling destination, but Donald Trump helped bring big name boxing bouts to the city that attracted many new customers to his casinos. Mike Tyson had most of his fights in Atlantic City in the 1980s, which helped Atlantic City achieve nationwide attention as a gambling resort. Resorts International and Atlantic City are perfect combination. Unfortunately, with the redevelopment of Las Vegas and the opening of two casinos in Connecticut in the early 1990s, along with newly built casinos in nearby Philadelphia metro area in the 2000s, Atlantic City's tourism began to decline due to its failure to diversify from gaming. Atlantic City was totally unprepared for competition. Its casinos lost their East Coast gambling monopoly and the city has never developed alternate sources of jobs or revenue. Local casino owners didn’t reinvent in their businesses the way their Las Vegas counterparts did. And few bothered to notice until it was too late. In the past 10 years, most Boardwalk properties have grown increasingly worn and dated. Overall casino revenue has fallen from $5.2bn in 2006 to $2.9bn in 2014, despite a steady growth of non-gambling businesses. As a result, four out of 12 casinos closures took place in 2014. One of them was Trump Plaza, which originally opened in 1984, and was the poorest performing casino in the city. Trump Plaza's revenues took a sharp decline in 1990 due to competition from its newly opened sister property, the Trump Taj Mahal, which also closed in 2016. Bob McDevitt, president of the Casino Workers Union, Local 54, quoted that "Trump basically sucked the life and money. and fortune out of this property. He didn’t invest. He took the money and went elsewhere.” One of the biggest failures of AC casino projects was the Revel Casino Hotel. In the summer of 2008 the project was officially scaled back including just one hotel tower with 1,900 rooms due to lack of financing. In March 2009, construction was stopped because of difficulties in raising additional financing necessary to complete the project. Revel resumed construction in February 2011 after new financing was secured, and opened with just 1399 rooms. Revel Casino Hotel was heralded as a sign of a revitalized boardwalk when it was built in 2012. The State of New Jersey even footed $260 mill of its $2.4 bn budget. But the casino was declared bankrupt twice, finally closing in September. Some called this project "the poster child for casino failure" Still today, there are long stretches of boardwalk with nothing to eat except in overpriced casinos, there are few restrooms or changing facilities, the parking is expensive and distant. Atlantic City took its greatest attraction and made it inaccessible. Many articles about AC point out that during 7-8 months of the year the city is essentially vacant. No attractions to offer besides dark halls of gambling machines when Vegas has 12 months of sunshine and attractions for entire family. In Las Vegas you can stir up and down the Strip for days. In Atlantic City you can do it at best for hour with little to see, little to do, and even concerned for your general safety. By 2000, more than two-thirds of Atlantic City’s working population was employed in the casino industry. As of 2014, the greater Atlantic City area has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country at about 13.8%, out of labor force is almost around 141,000. The chances of becoming a victim of violent crime in Atlantic City is 1 in 64, and a chance of becoming the victim of a property crime is 1 in 15. According to neighborhoodscout.com AC was ranked number 8 in the most dangerous cities of the US in 2015. The overall crime rate in Atlantic City is 181% higher than the national average. There are nearly 18 murders per 100k people, compared to national average of only 4. The rape court in AC at 2012 was 88 per 100k residents, while national average was 26. Despite all of this, I look at Atlantic City as a beautiful, wonderful place to visit. I think it’s because of my own personal childhood memories of a time when the boardwalk was vibrant with people, things to eat, things to see and things to do. I cherish my memories there and I hope that someday Atlantic City will return to its former glory.
